  • Court Watch Releases District III & IV Judge Evaluation Report. On December 27, 2007, at a Raleigh press conference, Court Watch of NC and UNCG released their third major judge evaluation. The evaluation covered Judicial Divisions III and IV, which include Wake and 20 nearby counties. These counties included the cities of Chapel Hill, Durham, Fayetteville and Raleigh. Judges in this region had never been evaluated. The large evaluation took two years to complete and required contacting 6,778 attorneys. A total of 665 attorneys evaluated 68 district court and 28 superior court judges. As in previous judge evaluations done by Court Watch, attorneys filled out a questionnaire for each of their local judges. They made statements about the courtroom conduct of these judges. They also stated whether or not each judge should stay on the bench. Funding for the evaluation came primarily from A. Smith Reynolds Foundation and the Wake County Bar Association.
